Woodcroft Nursery School - Our Approach

Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP)

The Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) is additional funding of £302.10 per year if a child takes up their full 570 hours of free entitlement.  It is given to publicly funded schools to help remove barriers to learning for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

We use this grant for additional staffing so that we can provide specific support for these children.  We carefully tailor our support for each child according to their needs.  All children in receipt of EYPP are included in a small group with the aim, for example, to build confidence, develop well-being, levels of involvement, or to support ‘talk’ extending vocabulary and early literacy.

In 2015-16 we received £5741.49.  The impact was that more vulnerable children had attainment above expected levels on starting school.  In the Autumn Term 2016 we received £1780.80 and this year as well as our small group work, we will further support these children through our ‘Talk for Writing’ storytelling project and forest garden.

We want to give your children the best start in life so please help by filling in the Early Years Pupil Premium grant form.
