Healthy Eating in the Main Nursery

Everyday the children sit together for a nutritious snack time. They experience new food tastes - mango, pumpkin soup, foods to celebrate festivals - vegetable noodles eaten with chopsticks, homemade bread at harvest time, samosas at Diwali and beans & jacket potatoes on bonfire night.

Our snack time menus are carefully planned to offer balance and variety tailored to the nutritional needs of under 5’s. We follow the Food Trust’s guidance.

The children collect eggs from the nursery chickens, and can have egg on toast or make cakes for a special treat. All this and a running fruit bar (fresh fruit) and water or milk on offer throughout the day.

As part of our commitment to healthy eating we ask you not to bring in sweets or chocolate on your child’s birthday. Celebrating birthdays is important to us- to find out more about how we mark your child’s special day please click here.
